The USC Music Times, founded in 2011, is the online, student run classical news source for the University of South Carolina, the city of Columbia, and South Carolina.
Today, arts writers and music critics are getting cut from newspapers across the country, local newspapers rarely feature classical music stories, and classical events if listed are written in tiny print in back of most newspapers as afterthoughts.
The USC Music Times was created to address these problems. We report on local music stories. We provide a listing of classical music events. We write about music and its philosophical and aesthetic importance. We extensively cover the USC School of Music and the South Carolina Philharmonic during the school year.
The USC Music Times hopes to expand awareness of classical music when the world wants us to think otherwise.
The USC music Times offers “Musical” Classifieds--an intelligent place to locate music teachers, sell instruments, and communicate your music business. See our classifieds page here.
